I am a begginer drummer, my set is sound pecussion brand, 2 toms, bass, hi hat, snare and crash/ride

I want to get new cymbals, and ive decided between 2 brands

Should i get Paiste PST3 Pack ( Hihats, Crash, Ride) for 159.99 and get another crymbal ( splash)

or a Sabian B8 rock pack(crash, ride, hats) which comes with an 15" AAXplosion crash for 229.99

I've had the Sabian package on my set. I also have Paiste Alpha splash cymbals.

For medium priced cymbals, I think Paiste is much better than Sabian. I haven't played on the Paiste package your asking about. If I had to guess, I'd go with the Paiste.

If you buy the Paiste package, you could always use the money you saved to buy another cymbal. If you buy a new cymbal to replace any in the package, you can sell back the cymbal in the package as used.

As far as quality goes, the most important cymbal to consider is the splash, followed by the crash. In producing the cymbal to make it sound higher pitched, they use thinner metal, and therefore, your splash will be the first to crack and break, followed a few months later by the crash.

I'd buy the splash separately if I were you, and make sure it's quality. You might pay a little bit more, but you won't be replacing it in 6 months.

My brother plays drums and he really likes the quality of the Sabian's. so i say go with those. The Musicians Friend reviews give it a good rating as well, im guessing thats where you buying them from.
