I've been building/repairing computer since 1995:

Dude - DON'T get a DELL! Gateway and DELL are the WORST computers made today. They have horrible India service and their computers are often flawed and they will say it's an acceptable flaw, if your computer is flawed when recieved. They also have am poor record paying their rebates. They also do not offer custom computers like they say they do.

EMachines are the cheapest and still better than DELL. But if you buy any big name computer you're gonna get screwed.

Your better off going to your local computer shop with an advert for a computer you want and ask them to match or beat the price. They will because there's alot of profit there.
Another way to save money is to use the Operating system (most probably Windows) from your old computer. You don't have to buy a new OS if you don't use the old one any longer, that's at least $200 in savings right there. Dell wil lie to you and say it's not possible. But they are lying because that $200+ is almost completley profit.

E-machines are real cheap,I hear they break real frequently.
Dells look cooler but they both do the same thing.Ever thought of making 1 instead?

-It all comes down to how much you can spend, and if you feel good in the awkword moment when you say"I got an emachines"and the person you said it to asks you what that is.....lol...I'd get a dell, they probably come with better warrenty.
