This is what I wrote to her question. By the way I think she is a materialistic hypocrite.

"You don't need a thousand dollars to change the life of a perfect stranger. In fact, you don't need ANY money to change the life of ANYone. All you need is love.

Oprah, I have a question for YOU:

How can you help someone while bragging about it? It's great that you want to help people but then going and talking about it on your show seem very immoral to me. What good is it if the whole world's going to know what you did? Helping and making someone's day or possibly life is very special. Yet, there are people like you who make it a benefit for themselves while making it look like they are actually helping someone out of their good will. Next time you want to ACTUALLY help someone and make a difference don't air it on national tv (which by the way adds more money to your bank account)."

What do you think? do you agree with me??

I agree with you. I have thought as seasons of her show have gone on...she is not really interviewing or asking questions, but mearly putting something out there and then letting us know Her opinion or her light bulb moment on every subject under the sun. She went thru one interview where the guest hardly said anything because Oprah was too busy giving her two cents worth. Also, although she does alot for charity, she brags way too much about it. If you are doing it for the right reasons, there is no need to tell the whole world "hey look what I did".

Well I see your point and have asked myself the exact same question ....
The bottom line for me though is that she DOES help people, even if it involves money, fame etc for herself.
By making public the things that she does for others, makes other famous/rich people do the same thing ...
This has to be good ...
Also although she is making a lot of money and fame for herself ... without it she would not have the resources to continue the work she does (well less resources lol )
I agree with you about only needing love to change the life of a stranger ..... But how often and how many people can individuals lives can we change without a lot of money and hype ??

I think it's ridiculous that we have actors and actresses and sports figures making millions of dollars for a 2-hour movie, or game, and we can't do anything to help homeless people. How about giving part of the money to help them. Pirtates of the Caribbean made $42 million dollars. Who got all that money? Did they really need that much? How many shelters would that have built? How many people would that have fed? It's all messed up.

Oh, and no, I don't like Oprah. I never did.

Luv Oprah! She's from my hometown. If you have done your research, Oprah has done more for people than any Celebrity-icon I know, a lot of her charitable information outside what is publicized-you will have to dig for (I did a report once). Oprah has opened more schools and community centers, advocated and donated to women's rights, sent more people to college, and has given back to her fans. I think Oprah sets an example to the STINGY-celebrities, who choose not to share their blessings, but instead choose to donate a couple of hundred-thousand dollars to a charitable organization (FOR PUBLICITY!!), every blue moon, then turn around and purchase an expensive vehicle w/all the bells and whistles, almost three times that amount- only to add to their gluttonous treasurers. In this arena, she has the right to "toot-her-own-horn".

I think that Oprah's continued success is due to reaping a lot of good Karma!

Well, first I do not like Oprah. I think she is fake and way too over-publicized. I agree with your point in your letter to her and if people knew how much money she makes on donating so little it may turn their stomache. I am glad she gives, but if this is what makes people like her then they have some issues.

I do somewhat agree with you---On one hand you could go with your original opinion and not like her becuz she makes it known that she helps people. But on the other hand you could just think she's being nice and sharing(large amounts) of the money she's worked for..which you've helped her earn just by mentioning her name in public. Each time she's discussed she's becoming more and more empowered. But personally, i actually do like to watch her show

No, I don't agree with you. Oprah has inspired millions of people to be more giving, and she couldn't have done that by being silent. Also, I'm sure she's very charitable in ways she doesn't talk about on her show. But we wouldn't know about that, would we?

I agree with you
that fat hag has gotten so rich she forgot where she came from a long time ago.
the fact that she wants to be congratulated for throwing a few thousand dollars at the cause du jour sickens me.
if she REALLY cared, she would do it anonymously, and not put it on the cover of her self-serving monument to herself called "Oprah" magazine

Oprah is in a league all by herself......I do agree to the point where she shouldn't boast so much about what she has done for others.....If she really wants to help people she needs to help the needy not the greedy and not get a tax deduction out of it....

Agreed she does things for people like there science experiments or something ...Ohh lets see how so and so reacts to having something I could afford a million times over ,it's like she does what we do when you throw fries in a parking lot just to see the seagulls reaction and you stand there in this strange fascination all the while you didn't do it to feed them just to see there reaction.
