No you don't, but I would highly recommend it to any new rider. Many insurers will give you a discount by for passing it and many states will waive the driving portion of the license test by showing them you have completed the course. Oh you asked earlier about which crotch rocket to buy, I suggest before you buy anything you check the insurance cost. As a new rider myself, I found that as long as I bought anything 600cc or less the insurance was a lot less. If the cc's were over 600 the insurance would triple.

to get your motorcycle license in most states you have to go through a basic motorcycle safety course and some kind of road or obstacle coarse. when I was in Texas I took the basic coarse then I was followed by a state trooper and he told me what to do over a loudspeaker p.a. system for the next 30 minutes. In Washington I had to do an obstacle coarse.

It's not a law but it can only benefit you in the long run. Also in many states if you go to this class prior to getting your license you won't have to take the driving part of the test at the testing place, you'll only have to take the written test and vision test.

If you are under 25 years old it will cut your insurance by 50% I have been on bikes for 20 years and took the class with my wife and it took away allot of bad habits and made me a better motorcyclist by a large amount.

think so but you didn't say what state ur from. tx its about$250.00 dollars for the saftey class but when its over you get a license for driving a motorcycle.

you dont have to simply take a saftey class. you need to take the course to even get a lisence. it very neccassary. but your state could have different procedures. check your local dmv or any motorcycle shop

it depends on what state you are in. usually you get a motorcycle permit and once you do that you can take a driving test to get a license

Take lessons from qualified instructors only, not from a friend,or from someone that has been riding for years, you don't want to inherit their mistakes.
