also, half the people who have answered this question are idiots. the yankees did not have close to a 350 million dollar payroll. shut up. you're also an idiot because there is a "salary cap"-- it's called the 20% penalty that we pay each year for being over the $200 million limit. and also, i agree with the person who said that they are sick of one-year wonder teams. guess what, cardinals fan, you guys choked on a BIG dick in 2004 in the world series. what happened there? everybody talks about the yankees losing to the sox but that was a pretty big choke on st. louis' part. in fact as i recall, they were ahead a combined 4 innings or so throughout that whole series. so congratulations, you beat the ******* tigers who were able to overtake a ragtag, piecemeal yankee lineup in the division series that was different from the closing day roster.
and tigers fans, enjoy this series loss cause it's the closest you're going to get for a long time. we just took three of your best farm pitchers, and what did you get in return? cortizone boy and his enormous contract. he's gonna retire in 2 years anyway, so that was a great investment on your part. i agree with the person who said that it's ridiculous to be "happy we made it." but i guess no one but a yankees fan would understand that, because no team has ever been or ever will be as dominant as we are.
in summation, you're all a bunch of mediocre fans with a mediocre knowledge of the game who root for mediocre teams. go yankees.

The Real Leak-Out. The yanks isnt wiining nothing in 07. Even if they spend 250 mil on a 60 year old player. Why dont they buy clemens back hell play for 20 more years. Or why not play Joe Torre instead. The Mets choked with another 500 mil payroll. They suck. Who else? The twins choke, the tigers dont even mention them i believed in them cuz i betted i was waiting for a sweep. What happened? I like the red sox but paying 50 mil for talking to a guy from japan . Of course! It all makes sense now! Why even bother playing next season?? Hell the Simpsons Movie and Ghost Rider are coming out in 2007 so you forgot to mention the Yankees will win all 162 games, sweep every post-season series and every player on the team will win the MVP, Gold Glove, Rookie of the Year, Cy Young, Silver Slugger, and Manager of the Year!

...Because the Yank-Offs are gonna spend a BILLION DOLLARS on Payroll in 2007???? Didnt the St. Louis Cardnials teach you anything? They won it all with CHEMISTRY, NOT their checkbook! Players like 5 foot 7 165 pound David Eckstein, Ya Molina, Scott Spezio, Adam Weinwright, Jeff Weaver, etc...

Nice joke, haha...they won't win. I agree with Skydog, it's good to know that there are some people out there who still believe in the game. The Cardinals really do represent true baseball, unlike the Yanks who only have dollar signs in their eyes. Yanks suck.
