They are tired of the little games he plays. He's a great talent and unbelievable hitter, but he takes days off when he doesn't feel like playing, is not always into the game, especially defensively, and I'm sure he's hard for Francona to deal with.
If they do get rid of him, there is no way that Boston will find someone anywhere near as good, and I can see Ortiz walking about 160 times, because he wouldn't have the protection of Manny hitting behind him.

Manny is not going anywhere! He has 2 years left on his contract and that is how long he will remain in Boston! He has been asking for a trade for 4 straight years, and where did he go? Nowhere and that is where he will stay.

They aren't trying to get rid of him, he wants to leave, again, and it is a distraction that the Sox don't need. There is a great market this year, and he could go to Philly.

He complains to much and I think the Red Sox have had it with him. He'll probably stay in the American League as a DH because as you know he's got no defense.
