treat your friend as if he's your other leg or something. without him, you can't walk straight, you'll need crutches, you'll survive, but it'll be hard.
try not to rely on him so much, it puts a lot of pressure on the person. just go on with your life as much as he goes on with his. it doesn't mean you guys can't be friends anymore, it just means, if something happens like you guys end up not being friends anymore (knock on wood)

you're lucky to have such a good friend and no, i don't think it's sad to miss someone you care about. he may never let you down as such, but there may come a time when he has other commitments and won't be there for you as much as he's now. then it could be fatal if you rely on him too much, as this could put too much pressure on him and alienate him from you. your relationship is very special and it may not be easy to find someone who understands you the way he does but i'd make an effort to develop other relationships as well. any sisters, other friends etc who you can rely on but haven't really given the opportunity to get close to you? just give it a try and you'll see that each friendship will be special in its own way.

No it is not at all bad to rely on someone this much. I met a guy online and after talking to him for a couple months I relied on him to talk to. I missed him a whole lot when he was out of the country for like a week as well. And well... today... that guy is my fiancee.

it is not bad, but you also must know that this person will not be there forever, neither will anyone. so you need to yes spend as much time with this person as obvious you love him. and no it is not wrong to rely on somone all the time but always have a backup plan, that is why i think athletes should have a degree at uni, as if they get an injusry and cant play, they will find nothing else to do.

It sounds to me like you've not only got a friend in this guy ,but a soul mate too, I can't really see him letting you down.

Oh of the man that places your hopes in the princes of this world.
We should live together, to be solidary, to be loyal, to be followerses, but in everything that we do we should never have return expectations, we won't disappoint like this ourselves

its not bad, every one needs a crutch. but the reliability of people can only be judged upon by the person closet to them (you).
