a free cd burner as in a program? assuming you dont know a whole lot about computers, you need 2 things to burn music and programs, a physical disk drive that can burn discs, and a program to make it burn, if your computer is older, then i dont think you have the drive, if it is newer, then you almost certanly do have one. go to www.download.com and look for a program called Windows Media Player 10. it had a tutorial for you to start burning, and organize your songs for MP3 players and stuff. if you want to burn files and stuff onto a cd, then get a program called Sonic Record NOW! its as easy as drag and drop.
