Does anyone have any good horse stories? They can be about you and your horse, happy, sad, funny, whatever...
(Sorry if this isn't really a question...)

We had Cindi, she was Fox trotter. Well when you'd ride her and if you went through sand for any length of time she'd sit down and roll like a dog..literally..she'd sit, with you, pack and saddle on...

I have a little Florida Cracker pony named (whaddya know) Cracker. He's a bay gelding, and is so trusting & willing. Once we were on a trail ride, and decided to pick up a little lope. Well me being me, it quickly turned to a gallop and i was having the time of my life feeling the breeze whip my hair back. It was getting dark though, and there was a telephone pole ahead. I veered to the right to avoid it but I absolutely did not see the steel cable coming down at an angle from the pole. I blinked, and before I could do anything, my horse ran right underneath and I was caught and suspended in the air for a moment. The breath was knocked out of me, and all i remember is everything going black.

I pretty much did a back flip off the back of my horse after colliding with the braided guide wire, then fell to the ground. Luckily my mom was there, and she called the ambulance. Before they came, I regained conciousness and immediately looked for Cracker. I cried when I saw that he had stopped, turned around and was waiting for me. Even though we had been heading back to the barn, at a gallop, he thought of me first before his food and stable mates. My mom screamed at me to stay down, but I ignored the pain and stood up to pet my horse.

There was a bloody cut above his eye, and I put my bloody hand up to it. We both have a scar from the incident, and it has proved a vital life lesson. Without realizing it, I had put us both in danger galloping down the side of a road at dusk - anything could have happened! I look back and think of how much of a fool I was, but I share my story rather than hide it for others to learn without having to learn it the hard way.

I went to an agricultural high school that has a full working farm in addition to academics and students were allowed to take the horses over the summer if the student could meet the requirements. So, I applied to take Billy, a Quarter Horse, over the summer and I was approved! I boarded him at the same stable as another schoolmate and one time we both got it into our heads to go to McDonald's via horseback. We thought the drive thru guy was going to faint. But it was a nice little trail ride.

It was early in the morning on the first Monday of the June/July holidays and I was on a pony camp at my riding school. One of the instructors came to tell me which horse to ride. I had to ride a new horse Grace and was a bit nervous coz I didn't know her so I went to her stable and inside stood the most stunning chestnut thoroughbred. At that moment I realized I had the best mount of all. I groomed her and she was perfect. She was even more perfect when being ridden, even though she was nervous of jumping. I spent the whole day with Grace. That afternoon when my mom came to pick me up, I quickly ran and gave Grace a carrot and hugged her good-bye, and in that sweet brief moment I realized that not only had I chosen her, but she had also chosen me.

My daughter has wanted horse so I bought her one, he was old and had been foundered. I got him back to health and he colicked and I had to have him put down. I replaced him with a colt and she ended up sand colicking and then I bought an old race horse and hadn't noticed that he was a "wind sucker", he ended up colicking and twisted a gut. I had to put him down as well. I have given up horses for awhile, but am looking at to getting back into it. Maybe I will go for a more expensive horse that I can have checked out a little better. The colt is doing well, but she can't come to my house because I have a lot of sand. She is put permanently out on grass.......
