I had an issue with having sex while on my period. When I consulted the doctor she said that my uterus drops around that time of month and that can cause lots of painful pressure when trying to do anything. I'm not sure if that is your kind of "pain" but that could be the cause. Then again, if I'm not mistaken, your body is trying to "push" the lining out so maybe it's similar to childbirth with the "contractions" (but of course nowhere NEAR as bad). You should just take a stool softener a day or two before your period is due and just continue to take them. They helped me after I had my daughter and had stitches down there and REFUSED to even try to "push" anything out. Good thing about those for most people as opposed to laxatives is it just helps you along...it doesn't make you think "Gotta go RIGHT NOW."

The bowels are pressing on the uterus. Try eating soft foods or taking a stool softened during that time of the month.

Go to the doctor. It more 'normal' to have the other 'problem' due to the hormones that cause cramps.
