Future reference: Ask the question BEFORE feeding items to your hamster.

As long as the ham was cooked, then it's fine (guideline goes for all meat).

Never feed a hamster any of the following:

Buttercups
Chocolate
Garlic*
Onions
Rabbit Mix (containing antibiotic ingredients)
Raw Kidney Beans
Sweets
Toffee

You should not feed him pork products as they are too fatty. Hamsters can have lean cooked chicken or beef. They also like hard boiled eggs. The website hamsteriffic.com has a long list of things that hamsters can eat and food that should be avoided. Hamsters like a variety, including veggies and fruits. Too much lettuce is not good for them...diarrhea!
