I think you're over-stating this a tad.
Last year I sold Christmas trees for a month before Christmas and I wished about 100 people a day (or more) a "Merry Christmas". And they wished me a "Merry Christmas!" in return. So what's that? About 3000 people or more?
Of all those people only one person seemed to take offense, and she was white...and looked/sounded like a long time Canadian. She didn't have any hint of a foreign accent. And all she did was look at me funny and in a slightly raised tone, replied, "Happy Holidays!"
And the people I met over that month came in all colours and sizes! People from Jamaica, India, Iran... you name it.
So, I don't know where you are, but in the part of Canada I live in... people seem to enjoy wishing others a Merry Christmas.

Hay, your talking about people who throw tantrums over a cartoon and kill a nun of something some old man said.
These are not your average run of the meal people I just got a hate letter from one because I dared to suggest that muslims might be terriorists. Gee don't know where I got that idea.
I said, all muslims are not terriorists, but so far the terriorists have been muslims. Is that true or what?
so don't get your panties in a bunch every time someone says something. If they say merry christmas smile and say happy what ever? You people need anger management classes.
Seriously! there was this guy in our class that got real upset over banana's. Couldn't stand the smell if someone had them in their lunch sack he went crazy. They sent him to this anger management class. He still doesn't like bananna's but at least he doesn't beat you up.
Now think about this 215 Shiite's were killed, then they killed a bunch of Sunni's for no reason that we know of. They throw keroscene on 15 tied up men and set them on fire and the Iraq police watched as they burned up. Those people have some serious anger management problems. Need some classes over there.

Respect goes two ways. Would you be comfortable if someone wished you a Happy Hanuka or Kwanza? (I'm sorry if I'm spelling those wrong -spell check didn't have them) Would you say it back? The reality is, in a free country, people have the right to believe or not. In a civil country, we don't have to agree with everyone's beliefs, but we should respect their right to believe in whatever religion they chose. Part of respect is not imposing our beliefs on them.

i totally agree with you. i live in the u.s. and last yr in every store i went they will say happy holidays instead of merry christmas because it was or is politically incorrect. Its very annoying!!!! its always been about christmas so dont change it now because some people get offended. i dont understand whats the ofense either.
i always say merry christmas with a big smile.luckily, for me, i get to go home for the christmas vacations, and even that name has changed to holiday vacation or winter break.
in my country everybody says to you merry christmas and nobody gets offended which is great, i love being able to go home and not have to watch my words so i dont offend anybody when saying MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS 2U2!!!!

Why exactly do you think that your faith is not being respected in this case? Because people who don't believe as you do are offended by your lack of respect for THEIR religion? I am Christian as well, but it bothers me to hear people say Merry Christmas when they don't know my belief, and therefore my response to them is either Happy Hanukkah to you or even better, Happy Kwanzaa to you.
