I am a distributor for a gourmet candle company and I am just starting out...The candles I sell are amazing but I just cannot get people to go to my website... 1. Submit your website to the search engines, like Yahoo and Google, so that you come up in the 'natural search results'.
2. Both engines also have paid search options where you can choose to appear in the 'sponsored search results' -- you only pay when someone clicks to your site.
3. Some newspaper websites have free online classifieds or text ads where you only pay when someone clicks on your ad.
4. Do a search on pay per click advertising or link sharing and see what else comes up. If you're serious about having a business online, you'll find a number of low cost ways to promote your site and drive traffic to it.

Are you allowed to sell on ebay? List a couple if you are in customized gift baskets or stand alone, candles are in demand during the holidays - you can list for minimal charges and generate some interest with a minimum of energy and money. You also might want to talk to small speciality shops in your area (target higher end shops) and sell a few through them, the shabby custom product cards on your candles tied with some jute to the candle would direct people to your site.

ask questions on yahoo question board about how to get people to go to your candle website and that will spark an interest for people to go to your website.

i would email so ppl and let them know that u are starting a business in a nice letter... and tell them to forward to other ppl... its another way got get around or u can send out ecard to invite others to come to ur site ....good luck and i will be checking out ur site....
