And this is how it feels when I ignore the words you spoke to me
And this is where I lose myself when I keep running away from you
And this is who I am when I don't know myself anymore
And this is what I choose when it's all left up to me

Breathe your life into me
I can't feel you
I'm falling, falling faster
Breathe your life into me
I still need you
I'm falling, falling
Breathe into me

And this is how it looks when I am standing on the edge
And this is how I break apart when I finally hit the ground
And this is how it hurts when I pretend I don't feel any pain
And this is how I disappear when I throw myself away

It kinda sounds like a teenager who has repeatedly run away from home even though the parent(s) has tried to keep the child in school and off drugs, etc. Just saying, "Stay in school" and "Don't do drugs" is not enough. Furthermore, the parent gave the child life once ("breathed life into me") but more is expected as far as nurturing goes. "Breathe life into me (again)" seems to be a repetitious plea for help. The teen feels very misunderstood and alone, acting as if he or she is tough and independent, but is highly vulnerable to committing suicide. Maybe the child is indeed on drugs. I'd say the tone was that of sadness and longing for an obvious show of parental love, guidance, and acceptance in order to save him or her from falling, i.e., committing suicide.

Formally it is a dramatic monologue. It is a poem about suicide and death. But that is just my opinion.

Hope it helps.

It is dramatic tragedy. it is fatalistic and sad. How does it make you feel?
