Because they promote gimmicks as champions, recycle the same ole story line over and over. And promote sex instead of hardcore, nose grinding wrestling like I'm used to when i was coming up watching it as a kid
People actually had fueds that lasted years with each other not days as they do now, and wrestlers didn't take the day off to go shoot a movie or appear on talk shows, they wrestled everyday, all the time and they did it not because they had to by contract but because the loved what they did.
ex. Ric Flair fueded with Kerry Von Erich for close to 10 years and it never got boring, not one match they had was boring or played out.
John Cena just two weeks ago had a feud with K-fed who isn't even an wrestler, now you don't even hear from k-fed and john cena has a new fued with umaga who still can't wrestle no matter how many times you repackage him

Because Vince has no real competition. Back when WCW and ECW were coming up, the WWE was at the best it had been in YEARS. But now, the two main "competitors," TNA and ROH, present little to no actual threat to Vince, so he's secure in putting out whatever kind of crap product he wants, because nothing bad can happen. It's pretty sad, actually. "Sports entertainment" is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of.

Just like gemini said wrestling nowadays is so boring i remember seeing jeff hardy putting bubb ray dudly through a table doing swantons out the ring duddly boys doing the death bomb through the tabble undertaker putting mankind through the table kane and undertaker in the first inferno match even till about 01 02 it was ok to watch till they fired almost the whole roster they now took away one of my favorite matchs hardcore Matches cause they didnt want there superstars to get hurt. nomore seeing buried alive matchs .Now all they do is make one superstar the best then keep him that way give him movies and forget the real wrestlers oh made it what it is today i remember when they pushed everone not just 5 people its just boring now seeing fueds last about 4 weeks and they forget it even happend.

Rent some old videos....80s mostly....and take a look at the crowds, mostly adults....even people 60 years + at ringside.....nowadays the industry caters to the "up to 25" crowd, and the product has suffered as a result.

because competition just keeps dying and the only couple big brands left are wwe and tna and hopefully wcw could or should break loose and turn against wwe and go on its own and so that way we dont have to see a worthless raw or a worthless smackdown event.

Like everything that started out fun, it just got too hyped and now its just no fun. The old days there was no marketing, yeah they still were as fake as ever but everyone was having fun. There was story lines , good guys and bad guys.. then it just got full of itself and turned into a commodity.

they went to long with out trying to be good...as soon as wCw was gone they didn't have to try any more they knew the wwe fans would still buy in to there story lines and buy there t shirts ...so why try if you will be making money?...but now that TNA is getting big the WWE mite be getting better...
