CALCUTTA - according to me best. I don't know I might have got this impression since I lived there for a long 38 years. Let me tell you what I observed.

Summer will be very hot for foreigners March to June the asphalt will be melting on the roads. You should avoid going out in the noon. Otherwise there is no major minus point. People are good. Cultured. Calcuttans know to respect others. In star hotels and outside eat outs the food will be alright. If you are a foreigner avoid road side eating stalls. Cost of living is lowest in India. It is a old city and you will have a feeling as if you have gone to England. City is congested. It used to be dirty and i understand in the recent 5 years lot of changes have come and the city is improved a lot. Transport - tube rail, taxis, trams are good and cheap. No cheating business like other cities of India.

Wish you all enjoyment in the CITY OF JOY-

Calcutta is a lovely place. It is culturally very rich. If you want to have a good ambience alongwith good food, do visit "OH Kolkata"
at Forum. Climate is a bit humid. Best time is Nov, Dec,Jan.
You get good cotton stuff there. For sarees visit any of the boutiques. Good jewellery.
