I'd say either now or the late 80s/early 90s - like from 1988 to 1992. I love 80s music, but around this time music got so bad. This is the age of Vanilla Ice, Tiffany, Milli Vanilli, Kriss Kross, Paula Abdul, Poison, Nelson, Michael Bolton, Salt n Pepa, and NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK!
Today is about equally bad, between emo music and snap. The late 1990s were pretty bad too.

Heck no, late 80s-early 90s was the age of punk music. Don't ever go to the radio for good music, that you have to find on your own. Rock bands of the 90s were great too.
Now, music isn't THAT bad, the only problem is that everyone falls under emo. Just because they have deep lyrics does not make one emo. However, the stereotype sticks and therefore makes it 'bad'. The music industry likes to take stereotypes and exploit them, because the music industry is all about money
but music is also about people's reactions. We are in a time where we don't protest for our rights and are inactive in politics. Rather than writing about war or social problems, people have become more involved with themselves, writing about their emotional problems.
Never look at popular music for good music. There has never been a time where music is bad, music is just shaped by the time period.

Now. I grew up in the 60's and 70's. I enjoy most music from the 40's to the mid 80's.

Jeez...that doesn't give much time for real music.
I agree...BUT>>
In the late 80's/early 90's there was Nirvana, Rancid, and NOFX,
three pretty good bands (there were alot more than that)
In the early 90's, the hair movement was on its way dead, so in came the better stuff...
Nobody really knew about those bands then.

I am not just saying this to get points, but I absolutly agree with you on the dates. I hated those eras too. What the hell happened in that time? The music of those times was like douchebutter to the ears. In the 1950's you had Elvis,Miles Davis,Buddy Holly,Little Richard In the 1960's you had Hendrix, the Doors,James Brown,Motown,1970's-LedZeppelin,Kiss,BlackSabbath Early 80'sRamones,Grandmasterflash,The Clash,Van Halen.(horribletime: Late 80's all that crap you mentioned, Thank god Nirvana,AliceNChains,NineInchNails etc..knocked those bands off the globe. I hate emo as well.

rock is slowly pulling itself out of the badness but rap is doing the same thing rock did in the eighties as in bad songs that all sound the same and a lack of intrest in bettering themselves and the people who buy their albums and getting that dollar because all rap does now is **** up everything the zulu nation and the native tounges did to further the genre

The beginning of the end was the arrival of 'gangsta' rap, which is not really music at all, but rather nothing but noise and bad lyrics. Then Country music started dabbling in rap, and ended up with "Crap".

I would have to disagree. I think that disco was the worst era. Everyone thought they had to make a disco album to be successful. Example? Dynasty, the disco album by Kiss.
