It is indeed called one tin soldier.

Skeeter Davis originally recorded it years ago.

I have also heard a rendition from Irene Cara.

edited to add:

I must correct myself. I said that this song was originally recorded by Skeeter Davis. Well, that statement appears to be wrong. I found this on the internet:

"Who originally recorded the 1971 song "One Tin Soldier" by Coven?
"One Tin Soldier" was originally recorded by the Canadian group the Original Caste and written by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter. Released in 1969, their version of the song hit the US top forty in early 1970. Another popular release by the Original Caste was the 1970 song "Mr Monday". Coven’s version of "One Tin Soldier" was used in the 1971 movie "Billy Jack" and hit the top forty in the fall of that same year."

So it appears that the song was first recorded by a group called 'the Original Caste'. Later, Coven, Skeeter Davis, Irene Cara, and others recorded it.

One Tin Soldier by Coven. It's from the Billy Jack movie, I think 1970 or 1971.
