Society has made beauty an important aspect of life when it shouldn't be. All the fashion magazines give an unreal look to all women when the models themselves don't even look like that. All it does is make women unhappy and the only secure beings are the ones that realize beauty is from within and the more then don't care about their looks makes them even more beautiful outside.

yes, i accept myself for who i am too, and quite honestly, i find it sort of ridiculous that other girls have to preen for hours before heading out to dinner, or a date, or what-not.
but then again, it might be because of the message the media is sending out nowadays. teen magazines, gossip magazines, plastered with the airbrushed, perfect faces of gorgeous celebrities, in the arms of even more handsome men. this sends an unwritten message out to the female readers: "every woman fights for every man. and you've got to be pretty to get the hot one." it also creates a sort of competitive feeling, like you're competing with the pin-thin bodies on the magazines, and since it's almost impossible to recreate the beauty of a photoshopped picture/video of a celebrity, we end up self-conscious about our face, our body, w/e, and our un-satisfied with our looks in general.
there's another reason behind all this. GUYS. guys naturally, instinctively look for pretty girls, don't they? personality is what really counts but it's the appearance that catches the eye. so if you really want a boyfriend, you would have to look pretty to catch their eye, wouldn't you? and THEN it's the personality part that coems in. so the beauty is the bait, and when the guy is succesfuly reeled in, you show him your soft spot andyour kindness, and voila! he's yours. that's the kind of message society is sending us females these days.
some get caught up in this wave, and others don't.
others, meaning people like you and me.
so i guess it's just a way of life, andi mean, i can live with it, as long as i don't transform into another one of those peopel also.

Well everybody should care how they look. Like you need to brush your hair and teeth. take care of yourself. But if your talking about girls that stand infront of the mirror all the time making sure their hair is perfect and their make-up. thats going overboard about how you look. Im not sure why girls are like that. i guess they think they have to be perfect. Im not sure

see i dont care about what people think about me but i like fixing my hair putting mascara, eyeliner, & lip gloss to make myself happy and for my own pleasure not anybody elses though ive been told i look beautiful either way most guys say i look prettier without any make up that they prefer my natural beauty cuz its beauty that they say i was lucky to be born with and that im lucky i dont have to draw my face on they tell me to only put lip gloss on they say "all that other stuff will mess your face up!" youll be like those women that freak your partner out once you take your make up off

I think it's normal to care about your looks. It's kind of feminine nature. I love to look good. Looking good makes me feel good.

It's cool to love yourself. Everyone just has a different way of showing it. I love myself too but, I love to look good and grab attention!!

Girls like to impress guys sometimes. Or maybe they are actresses or models or something like that. A lot of girls need to be pretty or else they aren't happy. Girls can be weird. I don't really care that much either.

what if theres a hot guy or your boy friend you dont want to look ugly doo you?
although if you like the way you look that a good thing. plus if i dont look good im not happy when i look good im so confident and happy especially when i buy something new !

well you are supposed to care how you look, personal appearance is everything but what i think you mean is girls are too involved in their looks which can be a bad thing.
