Well, you were a bit vague on the area of English this is for and what grade, but I did an English research paper on the evolution of horror stories and it was a success. If you wanted something more physical to research, you may try the topic "Comic Books: Evolution of an Art Form" where you compare and contrast old comics with today's.

Good luck

How about something unusual but not way out there? How about something that would be interesting on a health topic that would also help the people who have the condition? We actually have surveys, questionnaires all ready in my support group. I suffer from lymphedema which is known as an orphan condition. You can get it from cancer, trauma, be born with it, parasites, and there is alot of fascinating information out there along with pictures. I think it would help bring awareness to a condition that is virtually not well known. You might even find someone in your class with it. If you are interested, drop me a note, we could do interviews right in our chatroom.

Actually, why don't you volunteer at your local Food Bank or Soup Kitchen for a week? Write about your experiences. What could be changed? Do you think there are better ways to help?

Read a book and write one on that subject. For instance: my teacher had us read a book called the art of happiness. after i read it i was suppose to research the authors, the process, give a critique, and establish my judgement on it.
