A lot of people are encouraging me to try and work as a primary school teacher in Canada... and I think the idea's quite tempting...anyone out there who knows a certain school or a certain Canadian that I can directly get in touch with? thanks...

What are your qualifications?

Most areas require an undergraduate degree in a general subject followed by a Bachelor of Education degree. In less desireable markets they will take just the undergrad plus teaching certification, but your pay will be lower.

I don't know that the demand is high enough to be hiring from abroad, but most teachers apply directly to the school board in the area they're interested in working. The site below is VERY popular for jobs, but it's not always the most up-to-date. You'd always be better off looking at school board websites.

Go to the following website if you are planning to end up in Ontario. The Ontario College of Teachers - www.oct.ca. Each province has jurisdiction over its own ministry of education, and you have to be trained within the province in order to teach there or take courses which are accepted by the Ontario government. Broadly, check with the Ministry of Education in each province to determine where your best bet is.
