what does african american, non hispanic mean?

when i was in grammar school and even now when i take test they always tell you to circle your ethnicity. for example the it will say are you african american, non hispanic (i think i'm saying that right) how come they just cant have african american or any other race by itself why do they put non hispanic at the end? do you guys know what i'm talking about

African American non hispanic means cubans, dominicans, mexicans, puerto ricans, central americans etc are not a part of that group.

It's plain media stupidity which the liberals have shoved down our throats..
There are no African Americans. Either you are American or you are not. If you do not wish to express yourself as American than leave now.
Non Hispanics means no spainish speaking people or people of a heritage which speaks spainish.
So many people don't realize hispainish means a language and being confused think it is a race which it is not.
There are many people like the Argentines who speak Spanish but are not considered Hispanics due to their light skin color.
Recently so many people have become so dulled by media coverage that they only thinik of hispainish as the dark skin border mexcians we see daily not realizing South and centrl America covers all races with spainish being the predominate one.

Sorry, I hate those questions and I don't answer them. There is no such thing as African-American, unless you are born in Africa and move here and become a citizen. 99.9% of all "African-Americans" have never even been to Africa. How about this, we don't answer that question .....EVER and think of ourselves as AMERICANS.

I always laugh and try and find German American or Welsh all the poor whites just get lumped together. :)
