My husband spilled large amount of oil when he changed it in his car, and now I have a very dark bald spot about 2 feet round on my lawn and it looks really bad. How can I fix my lawn???

dig up the oil soaked dirt and replace with good topsoil.
Plant some good seed in that new dirt and cover with lawn patch to get it started faster.

Mr. know it all, doesn't know it all. My grand dad had a shop with a dirt floor. He used old oil to keep the dirt moist for 30 years. Five years after the shop was torn down, you couldn't identify where it sat. Next year grass will grow in that spot with out digging up three feet of soil, or even three inches. Just be patient.

It will never grow there.
Remove the grass and dirt six inches beyond the spill area.
Refill with dirt, and reseed.

Sorry, that's the truth.....

Dig it up, down to 3 feet or even more if you can still see oil. Fill with bagged topsoil and then re-seed.
