Where and how do I find out my hard drive volume label?

In Windows XP just hit the Windows Key+E (or double-click on "My Computer") The volume label of "C" will be listed right next to the (C:)

Double click the my computer Icon and then right click on your hard drive and select properties. when that window opens the hard drive label will be listed in that window.
