BMW provides an OEM link that your dealer can install: http://www.bmwusa.com/uniquelybmw/innovations/entertainment. The problem is, it only allows 5 playlists, and doesn't display the track that's playing, but it is an OEM accessory. Contact Crutchfield Electronics Many radios can be I-pod interfaced and contact BMW too. My factory Blaupunkt radio in a 2006 Pontiac GTO " Holden Manaro in Australia", can be I-Pod and Hands free Blue tooth phone too. And Join the BMWCCA Many BMW people with the same questions on the web site.

You will have to get the ipod kit. It will have a control unit and adapters and will need to be coded to the car. These cars use a fiber optic stereo system. The ipod control unit will also plug into the fiber optics. $500-600 installed.
