I think that it all comes down to attraction. Attraction is one of the most beautiful emotions that we can feel. If you feel an attraction for someone, I advise people to take a risk. There is always a downside to every choice made, but that's all a part of life. The upside will be worth the risk in most cases.
Dating/Marriage between different races is not a bad thing. It may be harder due to family...persuasion and ties. But when it comes to children, the parents need to be responsible and KNOW what they are getting into. If children grow up confused, that's the parents fault, plain and simple. Children develop and learn from their surrounding environment, and as long as they are surrounded by love....what's the problem?

Thats only one view point of it. But what kind of life will you have if you are just marrying or dating someone in your own race? I mean don't get me wrong here, its cool if you are just attracted to your own race and all. But America is supposed to be based on being diverse and everything. Why would you short change yourself because you feel you are doing the right thing by just marrying or dating someone in your own race? I mean come on, just because you are white or asian or any other race, doesn't mean you are necessarily going to be loved by someone of that same color. Sometimes you need be open to everyone so that you can find your true soul mate and not just your color mate. I also believe that if you raise your children to know that they are a person no matter if they are mixed or not. I mean there is always going to be someone that says they hate you because your mixed or something, but think about how much more there is to you as a person other than just your race. I mean there is personality, moral integrity, ethics. Hell just being a good person. So I say not crossing the color lines for fear your child will be confused is just an excuse to not raise your child the right way and say that "hey, I'm a person, no matter if I'm mixed or not, I'm going to make it in this world and no one can stop me." Also if you stop and think about it we are all mixed from way back when, in my own family, though I may have black parents which made me a black young woman today. Does not mean it ends there, I have Cheerokee and BlackFoot Indian in my family, I have white in my family, I have Polynesians in my family. Its all through the blood. My mom may say that was in my grandmother's family, but its still blood that has been passed down through the ages to me and my cousins. As well as a part of it will be passed through to my kids. So I don't see how anyone can say don't date outside of your race because your kids will be confused, they are confused without the decent guidance of parents who love, care for them, and can show them the ways of the world and what is really and trully important.

People date outside their race because they are not ignorant and closed minded like you seem to be. There is nothing wrong with being mixed. You probably have some different blood lines going on too. And, the confusion only happens if the parents fail to educate their children. If you don't want to date out of your race, thats fine. Enjoy your extremely limited dating pool. But, there is no need to impose your ignorant views on others.

Maybe for the same reasons they date within their "race".
Common interests, physical attractiveness, similar levels of intelligence, education and so forth.
There are lots of reasons kids can be confused, many of which have nothing to do with being of "mixed" ethnicity.
Current scientific research (Human Genome project) has revealed that what people think of as "race" is artificial.

So, when you see someone and your heart skips a beat, but then you realize he/she is of a different race, are you truly going to let what could be an enlightening experience pass you by because you view the world with a narrow mind? The world isn't black and white, but shades of grey. As for children of mixed races, all they need to know is that they are loved.

I doubt that their children will be confused about who they are and to answer the question: people are attracted to other people inside and outside their own race. Nothing's wrong with being mixed either(my best friend is black/white and my mother's friend has a child that's black/white and chinese~) I really don't see how you can anything wrong with dating outside race...,but hey...guess some people do.

I am definitely a mixed child, and i'm not confused about anything, in fact I embrace all the cultures i'm mixed with (Black, Native-American, and Chinese) My mom is mixed(with the first 2 I named) and she's not confused either. I think it's a gift given to people and children who are mixed, you have a more open mind this way. Maybe this is a reason racism hurts me so.

There is only race that matters..The human race. How is it confusing for children. My brother is white and his wife is black and you know what i see when i look at their kids? a very beautiful child with two very loving parents. When you say mixed, you make it sound like you are talking about dogs. When i have kids i am going to tell them this. " I don't care if the man/woman you marry is white, black, Asian, Mexican, Irish, purple or green as long as you guys love each other and treat each other right" Its NOT the color of the skin that makes somebody, It is what is in the INSIDE that counts. What planet are you from?? What year do you live in?? It makes me sick to my stomach to know people like you exist! I am a 32 year old white woman happily married to a 36 year old hispanic male! We've been married for 16 years and have 2 beautiful children. 14 years old and 15 years old. My children are VERY educated honor roll students, They are far from being confused, they are very confident. And yes, my children are mixed, all mixed up with love and different cultures, that is what makes them so beautiful and unique.

There are a lot of people who believe that who a person is, inside, is of much more importance than their external characteristics. They also try to pass on such values to their children.
There are also a lot of people who, while they may date or marry people who resemble themselves racially, believe that bigotry is a huge failing of the entire race of humans. They make a point of being supportive of those who have the courage to date or marry people outside of their own group, recognizing that the future of the world depends in part on such colorblindness. You should try it.
