Halo 1 - Stick with the pistol whenever possible, and on Covenant forces, aim for the head. For the flood florms, shoot either at the waist or the chest area.. (headshots dont work on flood, because the parasite lives in the chest). Even if the aiming reticle doesn't go red, a target is ALWAYS in range if you're using the pistol.
For jackals with shields, aim at the cutout in the shield that they poke their gun through. Otherwise, if you're close enough, punch 'em.
If you're just trying to see the extra legendary cutscene at the end of the game, just do this: Load a profile that has beaten the game and choose "new game", then pick the "Maw" level, and choose legendary difficulty. That way you only need to beat one level.
The trick on that level is to go to the armory, THEN go to engineering. Get a rocket launcher as your secondary weapon from the armory. When you get to the T-junction on your way into Engineering, take a right!, and then when you enter the main room, take a hard right, and go up the ramp. Then go up to Level 2, and level 3. Then while you're on the top, get to the HARDEST COMPUTER FIRST! That means going between the first two computers you see and taking a Left.
Get the other two computers first, one at a time. Here's what's next: Trigger a computer, jump onto the retracting tube, turn around to face the open duct. kill off flood that's standing near the computer (ONLY IF THEY ARENT FIGHTING SENTINELS). Then when you've shot into the orange slits of the duct, ride the tube back to where it closes. Jump AND DUCK, to get back up next to the computer. Just do it four times like that, and you're all set.. Try your best not to fall down when you jump up to the top.. look for a nice flat-edged area so that you're not edged-off the tube if you miss.
Only kill flood that's going after you, or standing in your way.. Same with the sentinels.
Halo 2 - Sniper central.. Look for Jackals.. those punks are everywhere. Move forward carefully, and if you are sniped from an unknown location, then when you respawn, creep into the area inch by inch, and look specifically for snipers. Be aware that if they see you, you typically have about 2 seconds to live. If you can see them, they can see you. The only way to take out most of those snipers is WITH a sniper.
Both games-
Creep into rooms and around corners, staying behind stuff so that you face as few opponents at a time as possible. Don't stand out in the open, and it's better to run back to where you came from and let them come to you from around a corner.
However.. if all else fails, run through to the next area. If there's two opponents that are fighting each other, do NOT shoot! If you shoot, both enemies will turn on you. If you don't shoot, one enemy will remove the other one, or provide a distraction for you to just run past them.
Reload EVERY chance you get, don't wait until you run low on bullets. Recharge your shields whenever you can, too.
Never use sticky grenades on the Flood.. they'll bring it right back to you.
The little flood forms "pop" explosively when you shoot them. if you shoot one, it tends to blow-up thee ones next to them too. Save your ammo.. you'd be amazed at how many you can kill with a single bullet.
Machine guns should always be fired in short bursts.. not for long periods.
Sure hope all that helps! :)

because of the fact the above individual mentioned, it relies upon on what form of gamer you're. besides the undeniable fact that, that poster became into flawed, a minimum of to me. Halo 2 and 3 the two have very convoluted storylines and the only participant is universal on the two. Halo 3 has greater effective gameplay and greater weapons, automobiles, etc. Halo 3 has greater effective pictures and sound. Halo 3 has remarkable multiplayer. it is form of clean that Halo 3 is stronger. individually, i might advise call of duty 4. i think of it is greater effective than the two one in all them.
