I don't mean the Dickens' novel which is A Christmas Carol....
I mean the best Christmas carol, not any holiday songs like Rudolph...the song must be centered around Christ's birth.

You mean song or verision of the dickens classic? The best versions are as follows: 1. The old black and white with Alistair Sim, 2. The George C. Scott version 3. The Patrick Stewart version. The worst is that musical verision.

Best songs: Drummer boy and Do you hear what I hear. The best Elvis christmas song is I'll be home for Christmas. Oh and I forgot, it's hard to beat the 12 days of christmas.

For some reason I really like the old English carols, like "God Bless ye Merry Gentlemen". They're rich and a little dark. I can just hear the history-- honoring the sacred holiday regardless of what hardships the rest of the year has brought.

My favorite is the "Carol of the Bells:"

Hark! how the bells
Sweet silver bells
All seem to say,
"Throw cares away."
Christmas is here
Bringing good cheer
To young and old
Meek and the bold

Ding, dong, ding, dong
That is their song
With joyful ring
All caroling
One seems to hear
Words of good cheer
From ev'rywhere
Filling the air

Oh how they pound,
Raising the sound,
O'er hill and dale,
Telling their tale,
Gaily they ring
While people sing
Songs of good cheer
Christmas is here
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas

On, on they send
On without end
Their joyful tone
To ev'ry home

(repeat from the beginning)

Ding, dong, ding, dong.
