Applying hardwood flooring over ceramic tile would probably not be a good idea. You are going to get a lot of unevenness and creaking. The tile isn't going to be a good foundation for the hardwood floors. Just take the time to pull up the tiles if you want the project to turn out well.

Are you using Laminate Hard Wood flooring, or actual hardwood flooring? If using Laminate, as long as the tiles are still glued VERY well then it should be okay since the laminate is a floating floor, the only exception is if the tiles are not level or just really textured....just don't forget your padding!! If using real Hard wood then i would not put it on top of the tile. Are you putting it in a bathroom? Just sounded like it.

No. The hardwood needs to be nailed down and you will chip the tile and make the base uneven which will warp the hardwood. Remove the tile, grout and backer board down to the sub floor and lay your hardwood.

i would not apply harwood over tile floor. one thing it'll bring your height up to much= you'll need to nail your hardwod down with a nailer that fits your hardwood thickness 3/8 or 3/4.your hardwood supplier should know. myself i 'ld remove the tile, clean the floor good, renail old sub floor if it is squeaking when you walk on it.after you re=nail put down risen paper on sub floor then apply your hardwood. allow a good 1/4to3/8inch space around outside wall for hardwood exspanding. good luck itch

YES you can. Be sure the old floor is tight and without high spots. Use engined wood, near 1/2" thick Use the best urethane glue, Bostics best in one brand. Glue the hard wood down. You will need several 10 lb to 15 lb weights, use the put extra weights on any low spots. Leave over night. You may need to use extra thresholds for doors After completed you will not know the difference.

If you must, use a floating floor with a thick underlayment, otherwise you'll get lots of noise. A floating floor has the hardwood planks glued together (tongue and groove design) and comes to 1/4 inch from the wall with the baseboards resting just above the floor surface. You must use good, thick tongue and groove planks. Pergo, etc is not going to work.

That would be unusual.
If they are chipped, loose or broken, I wouldn't advise it.
But I suppose it could be done.
You would have to fill all the lowspots and break the glaze to make any adhesive stick.
If you're trying to nail the floor down, you would have to use a ceramic bit to drill every nail hole.

It would sound hollow when you walked on it. It's really not hard to remove ceramic tile.
