Given these constraints:
*The trivial answer - "to find the meaning" does not count
*Given that you have to die eventually
*Given that everyone you might help in your life will also eventually die
*The same applies to your children or anyone you might reach with the effects of your life
*Given that the Universe will come to an end in a couple of billion years, our Galaxy earlier than that and our Solar system earlier than even that (the latter in about a billion years)

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

Just enjoy life. That's all there is to it. Don't get jaded so easily. Just get out into the world and have fun. Take in everything around you and enjoy the beauty of life. Drink some fine wine. Eat some good food.
The true meaning of life is to love it, not ask about it. Some things are meant to be experienced, not taught or told to by someone. Trust me. You don't need a scholarly answer to this question.
Take care, BGJR

I say each person lives in a different way, depending on the lifestyle. My take is to live it to it's fullest, so when you go, and all those you affect go before or after, you have smiles and tears and memories to your name.

in order to find a coherent worldview, you have posed one of at least four questions... where did i come from? where am i going? how do i relate with others? how do i act personally?
the meaning of life... why must it have meaning? if so, who gives it meaning? us, or someone else?
