If one parent has custody, the other parent has to pay child support. It doesn't matter who makes more money. Children are entitled to financial support from both parents.

No, child support is due to the parent who has the child living under their roof, as it is the legal residence of the child. The child will have only one legal residence which the judge decides when the support amount is decided. You may have joint custody, but whomever is awarded physical custody, will get the support.

Not sure about how it works in Colorado. The child/children need financial support from both parents as someone already stated. However, in Florida, my sister left her husband and children, she was required to pay child support to him because he had custody of the children. (awesome right?!?)

No child support is order for the person the child lives with regardless of the income. So if child lives with mom who makes $1000 a week and dad who just has visitations and makes only $400 a week, dad will still be order to pay child support. Now if the child lives with mom for 6 months then with dad for the next 6 months then child support is not order on either parent.

Child support has nothing to do with how makes more money, it is who has custody of the child.
