Go to a petstore with them, just ask them really nicely to take you there, and tell them about gerbils and the reason why you like them so much. Talking should be the best sollution, but be careful to not go overboard by saying please please please, many parents don't like that. So talk to them maturely.
Good luck, I hope you get a little buddy!

I have the same problem... I've asked for a dog every year and they've said 'no' cause it's expensive and they think I'm irresponsible.
Do some research. Find out why it'd be good for you to have a gerbil. You can tell them that they're easy to take care of and not too expensive... prove to them that you're responsible enough to have a pet gerbil. Good luck!
If not, think of another pet to get. Or go out and buy one. I don't think they'd abandon it or return it back to the store... however, you'd have to find a way to figure out how to pay for everything

First of all, rats make better pets. They are smarter and you can even call them loyal. Secondly, if you want a gerbil...tell them you want a much bigger and elaborate animail. Pester them like crazy for an iguana or something. Eventually, they will offer to just get you that gerbil.

try doing your homework tell them facts, tell them what kind of cage your going to buy how much it cost, how big the gerbil will get, what they eat, things like that. They could be so impressed on how well you know this they'll get you one. This worked when i wanted to get a pet.

Just buy one. Go out one day and buy the darn thing and all the stuff it needs. then set it up inyour room and be happy. All I can see them doing is yelling at your for a day or so and threatening you to take it back. I doubt they will make u really take it back. Or you can just tell them the store wont let u return animals. Just be bold. It's your money your spending and your pet.
