How much space do you need for one?

It really depends on what type you get and what you need them for.

If you just want to play records you can probably use a belt drive turntable. The belt drive type are much cheaper than the direct drive type.

If you are going to do any heavy mixing while DJ'ing you will want to get the direct drive type. Techniques has been the standard for DJs for many years.

There are people that have lots of money and want to buy really expensive turntables. Those can costs many thousands of dollars.

A good chunk of space. Depending on what you want it to do, it can get rather expensive
