This is slightly off-track, but, how about this? Set up an outdoor mall. Shops, fountains, areas to sit, places to eat lunch, even a small park. OK, it's a large-scale cyber-cafe.

Set up a wifi grid to serve the entire area with switches, repeaters, etc. There would be high speed internet access thoughout. I've looked everywhere and can't find anything like it. I live in Houston and I don't know of anyplace to go and access the net in a comfortable atmosphere.

Also, make terminals available indoors so that customers could rent a terminal to gain access. This would benefit a lot of people that currently go to places such as the local library to get on the internet.

Giving you question some thought, and considering my experience with other businesses and the flea market, and the economy going up, up, up, then down, down, down, then up, then down, then......
two things popped into my mind. Food and Entertainment.
On the entertainment end... did you know people are renting movies off the net and having them shipped through the mail? And even downloading them, too!
You can't exactly download a can of soup, but how about this...
What if a potential customer doesn't want to cook that night. They get on "your" web site, log in their user name attached to their membership (which already has all of their cc #, address, phone #, etc) then decide, Italian, pizza, Chinese, Japanese, (what ever types of food). We'll say pizza, this time. New window pops open. Customer can select Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Papa Johns, Cesar's, etc. We'll say customer selects Pizza Hutt. Then up pops Pizza Hutts menue with prices. They order through you, you collect commission (on top of membership costs way back when they signed up) you make their order in their town. Order is completed by (in this case) Pizza Hut.
Your customer took 5 minutes on a computer to shop around town to ALL restaurants that deliver, used multiple choice (which increases impulse shopping) decisions, had a good experience, very convenient, and if your customer had several kids who wanted pizza, chicken, taco AND (whatever), then the impulse to shop multiple places is there. OR if there is a big party and EVERYONE is to drunk to drive and all have munchies for different things... multiple orders = multiple commissions.
GO GET 'EM, TIGER!!!
