5 hydroxy-tryptophan, works wonders, we use it in a clinical setting all the time and almost always get good results, we use a brand called proxan, made by the company metagenics....it also has other nutrients in it as well. it should be taken on an empty stomach with a small amount of juice.

L-theanine is an amino acid. It is an anexiety reducer and mood enhancer. It is the predominant amino acid in green tea leaves. It is most effective in the range of 50 - 200 mg. Any major brand is good.
5-HTP (5-hydroxy-I-tryptophan) is a natural supplement that converts in the brain into serotonin;;;;involved in mood, behavior, appetite, and sleep. Swanson has a good one.

If you're going to get the L-Theanine in green tea, then that's probably you're safest bet. Otherwise, see a certified herbalist who can help you.
If you're looking to increase your serotonin levels for some reason (for sleep, mood, or appetite), you may want to talk to a certified nutritionist or herbalist.
It's not always safe to take supplements that affect brain chemistry like that. Look at St John's Wort leading to increased depression for some, despite improving mood in others. If you haven't already, you should talk to someone who knows about your health and how these may affect you before you take them.
Ok, getting off my soapbox. I apologize in advance if you've already consulted someone.

you want to speak with a naturopath or a healthcare professional or pharmacist about this. we do not have any clinical information in any way about you or something else. Neither does the internet. Please seek for suggestion from a real clinical professional who's conventional with your clinical historic past.
