Hi:), Registered Nurse here; Providing you have no underlying health issues, you can maintain your regular exercises activity throughout your menstrual cycle, from day one to the end. Having said this, now if you find yourself to fatigued to maintain normal, routine of exercises, cut back to where you feel comfortable. I know if you experience heavy menstrual flow, or haven't gotten enough rest, this can reduce your endurance level. If you find it to strenuous, one doesn't have to exercises everyday, you could give yourself a pass on the days of your menstrual cycle that just seem to harsh. However if your a Basketball player, or other sport, you may not always have this option.
Thanks for the opportunity to address such a sensitive question.

Squats, crunches, situps, lat raises, scissor lifts... all will help fight against cramps and also help the uterus shed it's lining. Also, orgasms specifically target the uterun wall muscles, causing contractions which, once again, help relieve cramps and help shed the lining of the uterus(blood/clots). So if you're open to masturbation, that would be something to try. Make sure you drink plenty of water too.

To ease cramps, try a few reps of knee lifts to elbows.
