when the Pilgrims came to America there was 10 million wild turkeys. with in no time the wild turkeys almost became distinct. the Pilgrims and the native Americans got together, and decided it was time to be friends. they had that supper to give thanks. thanksgiving. read up on it in a history book. quiet interesting.

Of course the precursor is the Pilgrims sitting down with the Indians which also was an attempt to broker some peace. November is the months since it is the usual time that crops are considered to be all harvested.

**okay, for real, eating turkey came from the first thanksgiving with the pilgrims and pequot nation. the pequot ppl saw the pilgrims killing and eating buzzards. they felt sorry for them because they were getting sick from eating "death birds" so they taught them which animals were safe to eat. i'll just leave it at that, and not get into how the pilgrims repaid the pequot ppl for their gifts and kindness.
