It actually means that you buy something at full price then later the manufacturer or store will reimburse you money after a certain period. Like i bought a computer for $799 the mail in rebate was $299. So actually i will have paid to buy the computer as $500. $299, i will get back in the mail. <<""Mail-In-Rebate""

It means that if you by a specific product, you are entitled to getting a certain amount of money sent back to you by the company. All you have to do is fill out a form, and send in the required proofs of purchase. As long as you do this properly, and within the stated time period, you will eventually receive a check in the mail. Usually well after you've forgotten about it.

I think it means "mail in for a rebate" Usually you would fill out a slip with your name, address, etc and attach the upc code of the product along with your cash register receipt to get money back.
