I will be getting Proquid, but was looking for another sourse to keep the blood pressure up in my body if necessary and I have heard of Hemopure made from synthetic blood???
I do not take human blood as a transfusion, not even my own.
please don't bother with a suguestion of any part of blood products. thanks for your understanding in that matter.

I am terrably allergic to the iron suppliments I was given, I have had such a severe I.B.S. type reaction I had to be rehydrated, and given electrolites!
Thanks for the understanding and compassion!

You cannot be allergic to iron, if you were you would be dead. The oxygen carrying component in your body, hemoglobin cannot be formed without iron.

As for Hemopure, it is only approved for use in South Africa, and unless you live there I doubt any physician would even suggest its use. Moreover, it is not synthetic it is made with bovine (cow) hemoglobin which carries the oxygen like human blood.

Hi, you might ask your surgeon about hemodilution to reduce blood loss. But you probably already thought of that one? :)

From what I've read, that Hemopure isn't available in the US, as the previous poster said. There are some good suggestions here on how to build yourself up and get ready for bloodless surgery: http://www.noblood.org/general-discussions/3087-preparing-bloodless-surgery.html
