Well my tranny is busted and when I put it in Drive it slips completely on the 3rd of 4th gear. When I put it in "2" it drives perfect, but what are ALL the bad things that does to your car?

Also, how much should I sell this car for? Its a 1990 Chevy Blazer in fair condition, also need blinkers.

At low speeds and for short duration (i.e. less than a few minutes), very little trouble should arise. As your speed increases (40 mph+), you begin generating excessive amounts of heat in your engine and transmission. This can lead to severe damage to either or both, including: overheating; burning clutches, seals, bearings, pistons, valves, many other critical parts; blown engine or transmission (complete failure, needs replacement); at best you will get poor gas mileage.

As for a selling price, you can expect less than $1000 with the problems you listed.

if your top 2 gears are already gone...it won't be long until the tranny goes all together. this will also cause your engine to work too hard and eventually cause serious engine damage.

The blinker thing...probably your flasher. Take the flasher out of your emergency flasher and put it in your turn signal flasher...if this works then you know it's the flasher and both are interchangeable. Normally the flasher can be found in the fuse box but GM tends to put them in the wiring under the dash...just hanging there...you must remove the kick panel under the steering column then look to see if you can find them. IF you can't see them right away then turn on the emergency flashers and listen for the clicking...this will help you locate the flasher and then somewhere near it you will see one that looks just like it. Switch them and if your blinkers work go purchase a new flasher problem solved.

As far as seller value...transmission bad...can't say for sure but I'd say less than $1k

it's not designed to go down the road at cruising speed in second gear, and you will damage the transmission even more driving it that way. You can also cause engine damage by over-revving it.

On the blinkers, try the 4-ways. If they work the bulbs are good, and it's probably your flasher unit that needs to be replaced. (Or you could be low on blinker fluid, did you check that?)

Look into a rebuild transmission, the blazers are pretty good vehicles.

Check the tranny fluid??? (running in park)

I guess you can't scew up the tranny more than it allready is.

Kinda hard on the engine though having to run at such high speeds all the time.

Eventually, the trany will quit. And it will probably be junk. Then theres the wear and tear on the eng. as well as lousy fuel mileage. since trany`s for this vehicle are cheap and plentyfull just get one fr. a wrecker. and at least get some resale value for it.
