Thermus thermophilus is a bacteria which is able to survive under very unfavoured discription, e.g. hot temperature and deep pressure. It is believed it can do so because of its ability to replenish cells. However, can anyone provide any details on when and who discovered this bacteria, and if any possible side effects it will have on humans if they use it too extensively?

The species Thermus thermophilus was first published by T. Oshima and K. Imahori 1974.

There is currently much research being done on the genome structure of the HB8 and HB27 strains. No research with humans involvement has been published.
