Keep your PC and use Linux, which is free, or get a newer Mac where you're not forced to use anything Microsoft or Active X controls. Not only that but with a Mac you can use both the Macintosh Operating system which is the most secure out there, plus you can run Windows on it as well and get to play the huge library of games.

Certainly it is, but it requires a much higher effort to learn.
I have at least two systems running Linux (a free operating system and software), with no MS products in any form. Before I did that I went to school for 6 units first, but you can experiment with a unimportant computer and learn as you go (WITH reading material and instructions for reference... it's not simple).
There is also the MAC, which has little or no reliance on MS. The latest MAC system actually uses a form of Unix, where is where Linux came from.
