Forensic accounting is used in court. It provides an accounting analysis that is suitable to the court which will form the basis for discussion, debate and ultimately dispute resolution.

Forensic accounting is a highly specialized detailed discipline.
In instances of corporate fraud or abnormalities in financial statements, a forensic account becomes the lead investigator for the government or company. All records of the company detailing all financial transactions are meticulously investigated as if placed under a microscope. Any and all discrepancies are vigorously investigated and if the company is hiding anything the paper trail always catches them. No large scale or commercial crime can be 100% hidden, it's the job of the forensic accountant to locate, build evidence and present said evidence to the prosecuter or company.
