Independent women do not scare me.
I think the best relationships are those of two people who can live a fulfilling and independent existence, but voluntarily choose to be together, not for any financial reasons, but for emotional fulfilment. I have been with a number of independent women, including one who was extremely intelligent, educated, articulate and erudite. I admired her greatly. Another former lover simultaneously ran two businesses - neither of us batted an eyelid when money had to be paid, we both had the resources.
The good thing about two people choosing to be together in this way, is that either can just walk away, at any stage. So consequently, the onus is on each other to do the utmost to make the relationship of continuing mutual benefit and satisfaction.

Everyone is an individual. We are all different.Being independent is good, at least you can look after yourself, without being dependent on the other person. At the same time it doesn't stop you from caring and loving your partner, eventually you grow together and share each others experience good or bad. Remember past issues have made you independent, you have had to learn to stand up on your own two feet.

No. Men love a challenge.
If the so called independent women have an attitude to crown their independence, most reasonable men just ignore them. Not scared away.

It all depends on the man.....and how the two use the relationship...An independant woman can be very attractive until she takes over total control....its like most women in business, you can work with them for years, enjoy a chat, a laugh, have a good working relationship....then they get promoted and become tyrants, they attend all manner of womens conventions and think no one is good enough...then they moan cause no one talks to them.....

Yes I think so. I see myself as independant, my female friends all see me as this super-woman.(which I'm really not) If my female friends see me this way I am sure this is what men see as well. I am great looking for my age, in good shape and I am very outgoing. Men won't ask me out and I know this is the reason. I give off this super-chick impression without knowing it. I think it is 100% man repellant. I wish I could be not- so- independant because I really think I'm scaring them all off. Let me know if you find the answer!

I have known a number of times where my being independent drove off many a guy. Perhaps they felt they wouldn't be needed at all, or that their ego would somehow be compromised. Truth to tell, however, many men who feel that way about independent women have rather shaky self-esteems to begin with.

If my partner earned more than me I'd be cockahoop about it. It's all more money for the collective pot. Currently, I pay proportionately more of the bills than she does because I earn more than her. Whenever one of us gets a pay rise, the fraction of the total that we earn is worked out and the contributions change accordingly. In a couple of years she will probably overtake me which means I will have more money in my pocket to spend on important bloke things (such as a kickass motor). Marvellous! Bring it on! Long live independent women!

Only weak men. Most men like a strong independent woman who can think for herself. However there is a difference between independent and controlling. Some women are just control freaks and want justify it by claiming they are independent.
