absolutely. i mean they've got the cheek to whinge at the poverty problem in africa and urging us to give them money, when they haven't contributed a penny of their riches to the people of that region. i mean, the problem with so-called 'saints' as them, saints a term which is overused to describe bono and geldof, is they think by throwing money at the problem, they stupidly assume it addresses everything overnight when we all know for sure, that is so untrue.
and as for that live 8 gig last year, how much of that money raised in those concerts ended up in the pockets of the poor and needy? not much i'd say. rather it went to the likes of mugabe and other countries with corrupt governments such as nigeria, zambia, rwanda, gambia and uganda.
if geldof and bono want to help africa so much, then why don't they start by helping get rid of the dictatorships, then work their way up from there.

Oh yes, when ever I see Bono or Geldof on the TV I have to hit the mute button!
If those 2 alone put their hands in their pockets, they could along with Paul McCartney would be able to clear up all the world poverty. Yet you never here them helping the UK homelessness problem. But they like to go on about us giving to charity. My dad taught me poverty begins at home. The more we give to charity the less the government has to do.
You hear of all the poor starving Africans but their government is rich.
Guide dogs for the blind, I can tell you the boss ordered a new carpet for his office, he did not like it, so he had it taken up and ordered a new carpet. Guide dogs for the blind also gives it's staff very low interest mortgages and where does the money come for from this... The common person on the street, earning low wages and unable to pay their own rent/mortgage!
When I was an income support officer and I was at a party and people asked me what line of work I was in I would always say I worked for a charity! While doing this job I was what poverty was and before you all get on your high horse I have been homeless more than once and I have lived in a squat in South Lambeth, London. Yet I come from a white middle class family.

Saint Bob and Bonio make me sick, but at least Bonio makes money from recording, touring etc I'd really love somebody to tell me where Bob's millions came from, I mean what has he actually done since Boomtown Rats? Apparently the rest of the band are all skint, and one is a plumber. He is a shrewd fraud in my opinion who doesn't put his money where is mouth is.

By bonio I take it you mean Bono. How much have you given? How much of your time have you given? FYI Geldorf and Bono are both citizens of the Irish Republic and cannot receive a knighthood (although Geldorf already has an honoury KBE). Do you ever help the needy in your own country? From your previous comments it's obvious that you are cynical and therefore you've already answered your final point. Rather immature and pointless question really.

Bonio, that's funny!
Celebs like to do this sort of stuff to cleanse their consciences; it makes them feel better, especially if they can spend everyone else's money solving what they think are the Worlds worst problems.
I find both Bono and Geldoff a little sanctimonious, but they are no worse than any of these celebs who basically think themselves GOD!

They are indeed.
If Bonio was so benevolant - why haven't they given all their royalties to these charities rather than going on and on about it.
That Jay Kay is just as up his own **** as well with his saving the planet earth but not yet as he has to drive his fast supercars and get banned for doing it! Yeah real Green there Jay!

I dont know about Bonio (haha) but Bob is an angel. He is 100% genuine. I've met the guy twice and talked to him at length, he is passionate and caring, and no he isnt scruffy and he isnt half asleep. I wish people would accept that sometimes famlous people do things coz they care.
He's also a very private person, but of course no one will believe that will they?

Yes, and they create misery in foreign lands.
Ethiopians and the like need to realise they must have less children as the land cannot support the population, instead Geldof etc bring in grain, and next thing even more people are starving. not helpful.

I reckon they have probably given a fair bit over the years money-wise.
I think it is more important that they give their time to raise the media profile of certain issues and pressure politicians to make policy changes.
And if they get a knighthood so what? If self-serving politicians get them for just hanging around for so long, why shouldn't celebrities get them for actually making a difference to the lives of the world's poorest? These days they give MBE's to sportsmen who win a world cup once and then get humiliated the next time round. Whatever happened to getting an award for a lifetime's achievement or doing something really important?
