It's not only the thought that counts but how you surprise her and treat her with style, take your mom out to eat and then go do something she wants like shopping, end the day with you giving her a home made present at her house with the whole family there

I think a good gift for a Mom would be an up to date family photo of all her kids in a beautiful frame.

I was a mother. What I would most have liked to receive from my kids was a genuine offer to take on some of the burden. A gift certificate that would entitle me to a day off.

I am a mom and what I would want more than anything is to be able to spend time with my grown kids. At the moment looks like I will be seeing only one.

Moms usually get crappy gifts...why don't you blow her mind and get her a spa/salon day, a gift card to her favorite store, brunch, and a cool new toy (like an ipod or new cell phone).
Good Luck!!!

Tell your mom that her gift will be you doing all the chores around the house for a week (I mean everything - laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning, etc.) so she can have a rest.

Jewelry is always a good buy. Look through a catalogue with your Mom and see if she points anything out. If you can sew, you can always make something for her yourself. My Mom loves windchimes, so that is what I got her.
