In their Junior year.

Although the majority do search during their junior year, I had an internship every summer starting my freshmen year. Most companies are looking for juniors and seniors to do internships as they are the closest to graduate...however, if you are not doing anything else with your summer besides relaxing...what better way to get that experience that most employers want you to have once you graduate. By the way, I didn't have an internship offer my freshmen year, so I went around to different companies and made my own internship happen. Hope that helps!

It is never too early to seek out internship opportunities. Many of the best internships, however, seek students who have already taken at least some courses in a particular area. The best place to start in your internship hunt is your college's career/field services office.
