I was going to see a movie this evening by myself. Is it strange for someone to go to the movies by themselves? I've never really thought about it.

I don't think it's strange, but I do think it's not as common. I don't think that people who like to go to the movies are full of themselves either like someone else said. I think certain people can do things by themselves that others can't. I, personally like going to the movies alone because I don't have to sit there and listen to someone besides me talk and ask questions.

No, I've done that before. I usually have lunch by myself at mid-day to really get some rest from work and university. If I had someone with me, I wouldn't get much relaxation as they would probably want to talk and I'd have to worry about keeping up conversation. Also, with movies, it's sometimes nice to go by yourself. You don't have to think about anyone else's taste in films or where they'd like to park or sit. An outing by oneself is something that only very self-confident people do.

Not strange at all.

Some people would end up getting lonely and sad going by themselves, but if you don't, it shows that you're a pretty secure person and can handle it.

After all, you're only going to the movies to see a movie... not talk to people 24/7.

No, its not strange at all. I do it all the time. I also like to go out to dinner by myself and go to Borders bookstore and read a magazine over a caramel frappaccino by myself, as well. And I am in a relationship. I like doing things with my fiance, friends and family as well, but going solo is sometimes a refreshing change. It gives me time to enjoy my surroundings and think about think that might have otherwise gone unthought in the midst of a conversation. Enjoy yourself.

Its not rare, but some people just think that you have to go to the movies with a girlfriend or with someone, not alone

That is perfect as long as you are comfortable, because you go to movies for watching a film and it is better to concentrate than whispering or talking with some one.

Going to a movie by yourself is not strange. Sometimes you are in the mood for a good action flick and if you know your gf isn't in to it, it is better not to subject her to the punishment, you will pay for it later. Sometimes it is nice just to chill by yourself, you don't need a reason.

Fred, I'll go with you if we can fool around during the movie. I know how to make things out of popcorn boxes.

no it isn't strange, people do that alot. like if your married with kids and you want to see "hostel" your wife doesn't wanna see that, and you can't let your little 7 year old see it because it's got cursing and some nude scenes in it so you go by yourself.

most people would say yes. because most people believe that in order to be fully fulfilled, happy and secure in themselves, they have to be aroung other people. a prime example is why people are in one relationship after another....but i think that being by yourself in any setting shows security and confidence. going out in public alone (going gto the movies, going out to eat alone) is a good way to find out how secure and confident you really are.
