FYI: I have worked in the Mental Health Field for 7 years now.
First, is the threat real? Any suicide attempts in the past?
Secondly, if it is real. Either contact a relative or go there w/ another person. You can can also contact the police or do an 72 hour emergency detention on him but that's a lot of paperwork and you need a Dr. to sign off along with a judge. Lastly, you can convince him to voluntarily check in to a mental health facility.

He's craving attention seeing that he is calling you, guys do that alot, they think its a sick joke...but if he's serious in his intent, you do not want this on your conscience especially if care about him, either keep him talking and tell him why he shouldn't and how many blessings he has to live for or better get over there fast.

I reckon you shouldn't take any chances, call/phone someone close by immediately, preferably professionals like the police so they can either stop him or get him help before he bleeds out for his own good and to protect him from himself.

Talk and reason with him. Ask him why he's doing this and listen to everything he says. Convince him to not take his own life and remind him of his good memories of life. Tell him he has a promising future and that bad times come and go. Save him because you are his best friend and because you can do it!

Tell him that he is not meant to die yet. Thathe is still young and that things will get better. Tell him all the good things (pros) about him. Make him feel wanted. And tell him how sad you would be without him. This often helps.

You can't I'm afraid but you could contact someone close to him, like his parents, siblings, teacher? and tell them what you know. The only consolation I can give you is that the majority of people who do commit suicide don't tell anyone.

I hope all ends okay but even if it does, then your friend needs counselling.

Tell him how much you;ll miss him along with everyone else. Also let him know that if he kills him self that when one person does it it's like a train reaction people would think that they could've done more and couldn't stand to live with themselves much longer. I actually have a friend like that and I took it to counselers to talk to them about it and had them talk to her and it worked.

If you believe it's true, call the police. They are trained. They'll take him to a hospital and hopefully get him the help he obviously need.s

Call over his house, and talk to his parents, or call the police. He needs help, he needs to talk to a professional, who can help him. Tell your parents, may be they can advise you, what to do!
