Yes. As long as the ball is kicked beyond 10 yards. Once that occurs, whether by onside kick or regular kick, it is a live ball. During the time I played there were several times that the receiving team just let the ball go, expecting it to go out the back of the end zone. When it did not, the kicking team was able to grab it and score a touchdown.
Also, the other way it can be recovered by the kicking team is if a member of receiving team touches it, whether the ball passes 10 yards or not.

after the ball goes at least goes ten yards on the kickoff, a member of the kicking team can recover the ball if the player has not left the field.
even if the ball goes ten yards and bounces back to or behind the line of kickoff anyone from the kicking team can recover.
the ball can't be advanced by the kicking team on a kickoff recovery
example to your question: green bay misplayed a kickoff in a playoff game and the 49ers recovered their kickoff and went on to score a touchdown.

on a kickoff the ball is live, meaning either team can get it, as soon as the ball travels ten yards. this rule is different from that of a punt where if the kicking team touches it, the ball is down where he touched it. On the kickoff if the kicking team gets the ball after it travels that ten yards they get the ball. So both the other 2 are wrong. It doesn't matter if the recieving team touches it or not. If the kicking team gets it, it's their ball!

Once the ball has gone 10 yards or is touched by a member of the receiving team it is a free ball & can be recovered by the kicking team.

On a kickoff, after the ball travels 10 yards it is a live ball and whoever would recover it at this point owns possession.

after the ball travels 10 yards, it's a free ball. if the kicking team recovers it, it's their ball, regardless of wether the receiving team touches the ball or not.

Once the ball goes 10 yards, then it's a "live" ball...anyone can recover it. It's just that simple.

Yes after the person kicks it off it is a live ball. Unless it goes out of bounds.
